Deerpark Primary in Clackmannanshire implemented Jolly Phonics as part of a synthetic phonics programme and transformed literacy outcomes, even in a disadvantaged community.
Within a year, nearly all pupils surpassed their chronological reading age, with average gains of 11 months in reading and 14 months in spelling. This success inspired county-wide adoption of the programme to benefit all Clackmannanshire pupils.
